Seniors gathered Thursday for “Transitions,” a program of guest lectures focused on some of the challenges and realities of life after high school. Three speakers shared knowledge and advice regarding topics in the news, culture, and personal upkeep.
Tom Dufek has been an integral part of the Chaminade Family for the last two decades. Two of his sons graduated from Chaminade, and he currently sits on the school Board of Advisers. Tom owns and operates Dufek and Associates, a Huntington firm consulting businesses and non-profits in finance and human resources.
Vinoo Varghese is a New York criminal defense lawyer who founded his own firm in 2006. He previously served as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. Vinoo graduated from Chaminade in 1990 and is the current president of the alumni Lawyers Association.
As executive director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (LICADD), Steve Chassman works with local neighbors and families gripped by substance abuse. He is a clinical social worker, advocate, and former clinician who knows first-hand the effects of drug and alcohol, the struggle to overcome them, and the hope that comes with the battle.
